Police search for man caught on video turning over Red Wave van

The police have announced that they are searching for a man who was involved in damaging and turning over a van which belongs to Red Wave shop owned by Eydhafushi MP Ahmed Saleem during the protest in Male’ on 5 March, sparked by the arrest of former President Mohamed Nasheed under an order by Hulhumale’ Magistrate Court.

Police said that the suspect is Mohamed Maaif, 41, of Male’ Dhaftharu 2523.

The police have urged the public to come forward with any information on this person, and contact Maldives Police Service Criminal Investigation Department at 9631696 or Maldives Police Service Hotline at 3322111 as soon as possible.

The police said that due protection will be provided to people who provide information on the suspect, and thanked the public for their support in similar instances in the past.
