Matter of two bills suspends Parliament session again

Today’s Parliament session has been suspended following calls for points of order by the members, demanding the Parliament shall only continue after the two bills; the Political Parties Bill and the Parliament Member’s Privileges and Powers Bill, were ratified by the President. The session was brought to a halt in order to hold discussions between the party leaders.

Parliament Deputy Speaker Ahmed Nazim, who was chairing today’s session, announced that the session will resume at 11:30 am.

President’s Office has revealed that the President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik will ratify the two bills at 1 pm today.
