Jumhooree Party (JP) has condemned the remarks made by JP member, Maafannu-West MP Abdullah Abdul Raheem at the parliament regarding JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim.
An announcement made by JP tonight states that the remarks by Abdullah Abdul Raheem while speaking at the parliament yesterday that Gasim is funding the campaign of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) primary election candidate Umar Naseer, were defamatory and irresponsible.
JP condemned Abdullah Abdul Raheem’s actions and said that Gasim would never encourage conflict within a party, and that such allegations reflect the irresponsibility of the person who makes them.
JP further disassociated itself from Abdullah Abdul Raheem’s remarks at yesterday’s parliament meeting by which he questioned the legitimacy of the government of President Waheed, and said that those remarks were based on his own ideas and not the party’s.
