Five arrested on suspicion of stealing MVR 26,000 from a safe in Nolhivaram

Five people have been arrested on suspicion of threatening the security guard and stealing over MVR 26,000 from a safe located at Hdh. Nolhivaram Power Station.

A police media official said that the arrests were made on a dhoni in Hdh. Vaikaradhoo harbour at about 8:00 pm. He said that the suspects are aged 22, 24, 25, 27 and 33.

Nolhivaram Council Member Yoosuf Moosa said that the money was stolen by a group of masked men at around 3:30 am today. He said that they put tape over the security guard’s mouth, tied his feet, and threatened him with a knife.
