Kanditheemu MP Ameen Faisal has pledged to sponsor the Umrah pilgrimage for one resident from his constituency annually, with this year's opportunity being extended to a resident of Sh. Noomara.

In an announcement, Noomara Council confirmed that Ameen will sponsor an annual Umrah trip for a constituent. Noomara has been chosen as the first island to benefit from the initiative.

The recipient of the sponsored pilgrimage will be selected through a lucky draw among eligible applicants. The Council stated that the draw will be held during a public meeting to ensure transparency.

Applications for the Umrah trip will open to Noomara residents starting this Sunday, with the submission deadline set for March 9. Interested individuals are required to apply via a designated online form.

Ameen’s initiative follows a surge in Maldivian Umrah pilgrims during school holidays. According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, a total of 7,726 Maldivians performed Umrah during the recent school break.
