Police announce roads that will be closed tomorrow

The police have announced the roads that will be closed tomorrow in relation to the parliament opening ceremony 2013.

The areas to be closed at certain hours tomorrow include the parliament building area and roads leading up to buildings of security forces. Main roads that will be closed tomorrow are Boduthakurufaanu Magu starting from Mohamed Ismail Didi Goalhi up until Kuran’gi Goalhi, Chaandhanee Magu up until Fareedhee Magu junction and Ameer Ahmed Magu up until Sosun Magu.

“Maldives Police Service would like to apologise for any inconvenience that might be caused due to the closure of these roads. We would also like to note the assistance and cooperation received from the public on such occasions.”

Protests were held by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) when the parliament opening ceremony was held last year. MDP has not yet indicated if it will hold street protests this year.
