Cases of four accused of creating unrest during protest sent to PG

Four cases have been submitted to the Prosecutor General (PG) for prosecution, for allegedly creating unrest during the protests held to oppose the prosecution of former President Nasheed.

Police have revealed the identities of the people as; Moosa Aboobakuru of Haa Dhaalu Nolhuvaramfaru White Star of age 45, Adam Moosa of M. Iraakumaage of age 72, Ahmed Zahir of Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo Bampvilla of Age 28, and Ahmed Ilham of Gnaviyani Fuahmulak Rivil of age 33.

Police said that the Moosa Aboobakuru’s case was forwarded for prosecution for threatening to harm the families of police officers during the protest held on the 14th of last month, and that Moosa Adam’s case was sent to the PG for crossing the police barricade and threatening the police.

Police said that Ahmed Zahir’s case was forwarded to the PG for disobeying police orders and voicing threats to the police, while Ahmed Illham’s case also consists of disobeying police orders.

This is the first instance where the accused arrested from a protest was so promptly forwarded to the PG for prosecution. Police are also investigating a case where the protesters threw stones at the police during a protest.
