Falling TV kills child in Baa Fehendhoo

A child aged one year and eleven months has died in Baa Atoll Fehendhoo after a 32-inch TV fell on her head.

The child is Amaani Abdullah of Blue House, Baa Fehendhoo.

The incident took place at around 9:25 am today.

Fehendhoo Council President Ibrahim Shaheen told Sun Online tonight that the accident occurred while Amaani was playing with her elder sister, three-year-old Aman Abdullah, and their mother was in the kitchen making tea.

“We talked to the children’s mother, who told us that she left them to play and went to the kitchen, and suddenly heard a loud noise. When she came, the child was under the TV. She couldn’t say much more,” Shaheen said.

He said that the child was alive when she was first taken to the Atoll Post, but died while being treated at Goidhoo Health Centre.

This has been confirmed by the police, who said that they are investigating how the incident happened.
