Four Uzbeks arrested for prostitution at a Hiyaa tower

Four Uzbekistan women and a Maldivian man were arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of engaging in prostitution at a Hiyaa tower apartment in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

Maldives Police Service said an operation was carried out in Hulhumale’ night on Saturday night around 21:49pm based on a tip received informing of prostitution for a profit using foreign women and possession and use of drugs.

A Maldivian man, Hussain Solah, 40, Cuba, R. Rasgetheemu, was arrested during the operation, alongside four Uzbek women. They are:

• Zareema Gulamovena Dejuraeva, 40
• Dildora Egamnovaza, 31
• Shahuzodokhan Rusthamova, 28
• Umidabonu Nemarova, 34

According to the Police, all five suspects were arrested during a court-ordered search of an apartment in Hiyaa Tower 12—the crime scene. Solah and Dejuraeva are believed to be the leaders of the operation.

The Police said over USD 19,100 and MVR 18,000 were seized from the apartment during the search.

Solan and Dejuraeva has been remanded in custody for 10 days upon presentation before the court while the remaining three women were remanded in custody for five days.

The case is under further investigation by the Police.
