Former Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath has also been summoned to appear before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
This was revealed in a post on X by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, though he did not disclose details of the case. Riffath could not be reached for comment.
In his post, Solih described the summons as part of a series of moves by the government to intimidate Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) members by exerting political influence on independent institutions. He urged ACC officials not to act under political pressure and to uphold public trust.
Riffath’s summons follows that of MDP Chairman and former Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail, who was summoned on Monday on corruption charges. The commission also summoned former Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer on Sunday.
In addition, former Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali, who served under Solih’s administration, has also been summoned to appear before the commission.
MDP has expressed concern that these actions are politically motivated.
