Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Kong Xianhua, visited the Baiskoafu museum on Tuesday and commended its efforts to preserve Maldivian heritage.
Known for his public engagement and people-focused social media presence, Ambassador Kong shared his impressions on X, describing the museum visit as a “fascinating experience.” His post included photos from the visit and emphasized the cultural and tourism value of such initiatives.
“Preserving memory, history, and cultural heritage is not only our responsibility but also holds great potential for creating modern value, particularly in tourism, by promoting the unique Maldivian culture to the world”, he wrote.
The Baiskoafu museum, which showcases elements of Maldivian history and tradition, aims to be accessible to school children, tourists, and the general public. Once officially opened, each exhibit will feature a barcode that visitors can scan to access detailed information about the items.
Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom also visited the museum in early June. In an Instagram post, he praised Baiskoafu’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s cultural legacy.
The museum has positioned itself as a platform for cultural education and tourism, aligning with broader efforts to highlight Maldivian identity and heritage.
