Two expatriates who fought in Male' streets to be deported

Two expatriates arrested in connection with a street brawl in Male' on Sunday have been handed over to Immigration authorities for deportation, according to police.

Police reported to media outlets on Sunday evening that the incident, involving two men fighting, was reported at approximately 19:11 in Asuruma Goalhi, Male' City.

The injured individual received medical treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Both individuals involved in the altercation were taken under police custody.

"The two foreigners have been handed over to Immigration for deportation," police stated.

The case remains under investigation.

A video circulating on social media shows two foreigners attacking each other, with numerous bystanders attempting to intervene and break up the fight. The footage depicts one individual striking the other on the head with an object, prompting others to move in to stop the confrontation. The video also shows one of the individuals bleeding from the head wound.

Clashes between expatriates are a recurring issue in the Maldives, with some incidents leading to severe, and at times fatal, injuries.
