Maldives is gearing up to hold a “national mass rally” on Friday in Male’ area advocating for the rights of Palestinians.

The committee organizing the rally held a press conference on Thursday during which they underscored that many nations were standing up in Palestine’s defense, as many Palestinians continue to die

As such, the committee underscored the importance of Maldives, as a Muslim country, following suit.

The national mass rally will be held at Maafannu Stadium at 4:30pm on Friday evening. The committee has issued several advisories for protestors gathering in the area. In this regard:

  • Protestors should not engage in acts that may disturb or harm diplomats based in the Maldives
  • Protestors should not engage in any act that violates the laws and regulations of Maldives
  • Protestors coming from Vilimale’ and Maafannu districts have been recommended to walk in order to save parking space for protestors coming from further away
  • Parking motorcycles in a manner that obstructs emergency vehicles such as ambulances
  • Male and female protestors should line up separately
  • Protestors should not use fire as the stadium turf is made of rubber
  • Protestors should not litter
  • Committee will provide all items which will be used during the rally

Mass rallies have been held in many countries across the world advocating for the rights of Palestinians, with many countries gearing up for similar rallies.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, nearly 61,600 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since October 2023.
