Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts and state media, Public Service Media (PSM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a National News Agency.

The MoU was signed by Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed on behalf of the Ministry, and Managing Director Ibrahim Nasreen on behalf of PSM.

According to Youth Ministry, the news agency established under the MoU will provide media outlets with news and other content through a digital portal. Registered media outlets will get seamless access to news articles and related photos and videos through this platform.

Youth Ministry noted that the Ministry will be involved in the services provided through this platform.

The Ministry emphasized that it is a crucial policy under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledges to facilitate further easements in disseminating news and information and expand the sector.

Notably, the government presently runs an online news site under the name ‘Sarukaaru’, to disseminate important news related to the government. The platform features press releases from various government ministries. Notably, government ministries and institutions also provide information to media outlets through media groups.
