A digital learning space developed with assistance from Pakistan High Commission in the Maldives has been inaugurated at Maldives Autism Centre.
The ‘Jinnah Digital Room’ was inaugurated during a closed ceremony held at the Maldives Autism Centre on Tuesday which was officiated by the Pakistani High Commissioner to the Maldives Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi and former first lady Ilham Hussain. The ceremony was also attended by Special Advisor to the Maldives Autism Association, former president Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik and senior management of the association.
The digital classroom is equipped with 5 laptops and 3 smart screens donated by the Pakistan High Commission and is aimed at enhancing digital skill development and learning opportunities for the students enrolled at Centre.
Speaking during the ceremony, High Commissioner Lodhi affirmed the High Commission’s commitment to supporting the association in its mission to empower and educate neurodivergent children in the Maldives. He also expressed deep admiration for the inspirational and commendable efforts of the Maldives Autism Association team, led by its founder and executive Chairperson, former first lady Ilham Hussain, with guidance and invaluable support of former president Waheed.
Ilham, who also spoke at the ceremony, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the High Commission’s long-standing partnership and ongoing support towards the Association and its cause, for the empowerment of children on the autism spectrum.
Over the years, the Pakistan High Commission has made significant contributions to the development of the Association, including donations of iPads, laptops, and printing materials essential for the Center’s therapeutic and educational services.
During Tuesday’s ceremony, commemorative plaques were exchanged between both parties, as a symbolic token to represent the long-standing relationship between the High Commission and the Maldives Autism Association.
