Maldives Halal Travels successfully conclude destination marketing campaigns in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Philippines and Malaysia.
According to Halal Travels, the campaigns primarily focused on promoting the Maldives as a Muslim-friendly travel and holiday destination in these key markets. The campaigns were held between June 18 to 20, the promoter added.
On the sidelines of the marketing campaign, Halal Travels also released the fourth edition of its Halal Travel Magazine.
Detailing about the reception to these campaigns, the promoter highlighted the growing demand in countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina and Malaysia which consists of significant Muslim populations.
The destination marketing campaigns aimed at providing the latest and most up-to-date information about the Maldives tourism industry, various offerings, and the tourism segments including tourist resorts and guesthouses. Participants were also given information about various travel packages and ideal vacation spots based on traveler preferences.
Apart from the campaign, Halal Travels partnered up with Malaysia’s Islamic Tourism Center (ITC) to launch tourism promotions to attract Malaysian travelers.
While speaking to Sun Online, the founder of Maldives Halal Travels, Dr. Hussain Sunny Umar said their efforts in the past 12 years in the industry have started to bear positive results, noted the interested shown by Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in expanding halal tourism in the country.
“We have been carrying out campaigns in various countries ever year, but now the president has expressed his interest in developing this niche that is growing popular across various countries already. Introduction of halal tourism in the Maldives would add another component to the Maldivian tourism industry,” he added.
Malaysia was ranked 21st among the source markets to the Maldives in 2024 with a annual total of 19,846 arrivals from the country.
Halal Travels pointed out to the daily direct flight operations of Air Asia and Malaysian Airlines to the Maldives, and noted these airlines can help boost the number of Muslim travelers flying to the country. The promoter also noted the potential of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital Sarajevo as another key market to attract.
In the past 12 years, Maldivian tourism promoters had marketed the country as a top-tier Muslim-friendly destination across more than 20 different destinations.
