Hulhumale’ Hospital’s Emergency Room (ER) capacity has been doubled with the operationalization of seven new beds following the completion of the emergency service expansion project.
The emergency service expansion project at Hulhumale’ Hospital is a key initiative under the current administration’s New Policy Initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare services.
The enhanced facility is equipped with cutting-edge medical technology, including a resuscitation room designed for critical care. This development reflects the government’s dedication to effectively handling major emergencies and providing advanced resources to manage life-threatening situations.
Hulhumale’ Hospital’s ER Ward’s Manager Nafeesa Ahmed said the addition of seven new beds will resolve difficulties faced by the hospital in the provision of emergency care.
Nafeesa, citing that the hospital previously had a very small ER with just seven beds, said it faced difficulties in providing services to patients with increased demand due to the rising population of Hulhumale’.
As such, she said the increased capacity would allow the hospital to attend to more emergencies which will be beneficial to the whole population.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended the ceremony held on Monday to commemorate the completion of the emergency service expansion project at Hulhumale’ Hospital. During the event, the President toured the newly developed ER, interacting with hospital staff and patients receiving care.
According to the President’s Office, the expansion of emergency room services is a crucial component of the government's broader health policies to enhance healthcare infrastructure and deliver comprehensive health services to the community. Various initiatives are being implemented to support the growth and development of healthcare facilities across the Maldives, the office added.
