The second meeting of the High-Level Core Group (HLCG) between the Maldives and India was held on Monday, May 26, in New Delhi, India.
The Maldivian delegation that attended this meeting was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel.
This meeting follows the first meeting of the HLCG held in Male’ earlier on January 29th, which laid the groundwork for structured discussions on bilateral cooperation within the framework of the vision document “India and Maldives: A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership”.
This initiative was set forth by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi following their meeting in October last year.
Both sides discussed on a wide range of bilateral cooperation, including transport and connectivity, agriculture, and fisheries among other areas of mutual interest.
The Maldivian delegation was comprised of senior officials from the President’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Defence along with other key state bodies including the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade as well.
