The house of Mohamed Rasheed (Metrix Mode), former Addu City parliamentarian representing Central Hithadhoo District, burned down in a fire on Friday.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said the fire was reported to the authority at approximately 5:11am this morning.
According to the authority, the fire was brought under control at approximately 8:05am and despite the house being residential, no one was injured in the incident.
Via a post on Facebook following the incident, Rasheed said the fire completely burned down the house he was residing at, and none of the belongings were salvaged.
However, he noted that everyone residing at the house was safely evacuated.
Rasheed presently serves as the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s vice president for Addu constituency.
