Maldives ambassador to India presents credentials

The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Maldives to India, Aishath Azeema, has presented her letter of credence to Indian President Droupadi Murmu on Monday, February 17, 2025.

The ceremony was held on Monday afternoon at the official residence of the Indian president, Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, India.

President Murmu welcomed the new High Commissioner and congratulated her assumption of duties.

The High Commissioner conveyed warm greetings from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and the people of the Maldives. She also expressed appreciation on behalf of the Maldives government for the unwavering support to the socio-economic development of the Maldives.

Moreover, High Commissioner Azeema reaffirmed the commitment of the Maldives government in strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations and expressed keen interest and commitment in working closely to strengthen the existing ties.

This year marks the 60th anniversary since the Maldives and India established formal diplomatic ties.
