Immigration to deport 3 expats involved in Artificial Beach brawl

The Maldives Immigration has begun works to deport the three expatriates who were arrested by Maldives Police Service from the Artificial Beach, Male’ City on Friday evening.

The three expatriates were arrested by local law enforcement for assault.

Police has confirmed they received report of a brawl between a group of foreigners at Artificial Beach around 20:30hrs on Friday evening. The expatriates also assaulted a local who recorded the fight on their phone.

All three expatriates, now confirmed to be Indian nationals, were handed over to Immigration to process their deportation.

The Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamman Waheed in a post on X said, the authority was expeditiously working on deporting all three individuals. He also affirmed authorities will not allow similar occurrences in the future.

“We will not give second changes to such expatriates who endanger the civil liberties of everyone,” Shamman commented.

While Immigration is working on deporting all three Indian nationals, police is investigating the incident for further information.
