Private sector members removed from MMA board

The two members representing the private sector were removed from MMA board on Saturday.

The two members representing private sector have been removed from the board of directors of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) on Saturday.

The two members, the Deputy Secretary General of MATI, Assad; and Chairman of Maldives International Arbitration Center Shahudhy Anwar, were removed from the central bank’s board.

Their dismissal from the board was confirmed to ‘Sun’ by an MMA official, but did not specify the reason for their removal.

The official however, commented that this was a routine shuffle of the central bank’s board.
