Air India, the flag carrier of India, has launched daily direct flights to the Maldives from Mumbai and Delhi.
The launch of the direct flights eliminates layovers, significantly reducing travel time, and improving the convenience of passengers.
The Delhi-Male’ flights take around four hours, while the Mumbai-Male’ trips take three hours.
The additional flights are expected to boost travel and trade between the Maldives and India, and comes as the holiday season approaches.
India is a top source market for tourist arrivals to the Maldives. The neighboring country is currently ranked sixth on the list of top source markets, with over 115,000 visitors so far this year.
