Boat collision: 18 people discharged; two remain hospitalized

Two of the people injured in a collision between two speedboats off K. Gulhifalhu on Friday evening remain hospitalized, according to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The accident was reported to the police at 07:34 pm Friday.

A spokesperson from the IGMH in Male' told Sun on Saturday morning that 20 people were taken to the hospital in the wake of the accident.

She said that none of the victims sustained serious injuries.

18 of the people were discharged, while two continue to be treated at the hospital’s Emergency Room.

The spokesperson declined to disclose details regarding their injuries.

The accident reportedly took place between Grand Park Kodhipparu’s PKD-10 and Feridhoo Tours’ Senora.

The accident is under investigation by the police.
