Nominations opened for fishermen’s award

Fisheries Ministry, on Friday, opened nominations for awards conferred in conjunction with the Fishermen’s Day.

Maldives annually celebrates Fishermen’s Day on December 10th. This year will mark the 44th year since the day has been celebrated by the nation.

In an announcement on Friday, the Fisheries Ministry opened nominations for awards which will be conferred during the official function which will be held to mark the Fishermen’s Day. Both self-nominations and third-party nominations will be accepted.

The awards include:

Most serviceable youth fisherman: Awarded to a fisherman below the of 35 who presently engages in fisheries as the sole source of income

Most experienced fisherman: Awarded to a fisherman aged 35 and above who presently engages in fisheries as the sole source of income

Most serviceable reef fisherman: Awarded to reef fisherman who presently engages in fisheries as the main source of income

Those who meet the requirements can submit the nomination form before 14:00pm on November 7th.

The nomination form will be available on the Ministry’s website
