Two Malaysians remanded pending trial’s end for trafficking drugs into Maldives

Two Malaysians who smuggled a large number of drugs into the Maldives that constitutes to trafficking have been remanded in custody pending the outcome of their trial. 

Criminal Court remanded two Malaysian men – a 41-year-old and a 44-year-old – pending the outcome of their trials.

As per the court order, substances suspected to be drugs were discovered from their luggage. Citing the mobile forensic report of their phones, the Court said drug trafficking was part of a network, adding photos and details of drugs smuggled by the individuals were shared with the network.

The report on the tests conducted on the drugs smuggled by the individuals was submitted to the court as evidence. The Court said the weight of the drugs smuggled by the individuals constituted to trafficking.
