Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu gives top priority to the human resources advancement and capacity building within government and state institutions, especially at leadership levels.

The VP’s remarks came during the official launch event of the second training cohort of the Maldives leadership programme, known as the “Maldives Executive Leadership Programme”.

While speaking at the ceremony, VP Hussain said the government acknowledges the importance of developing future-ready government leaders and policymakers with the knowledge, skills, and best practices that would allow them to adapt to global changes.

He said the current administration remains committed in developing the leadership skills, and making these leaders change agents within the government who will enhance the government’s success.

The VP further said the current government is committed to building institutional capabilities and enhancing organizational performances through collaborations and joint efforts with allied countries.

The leadership programme launched on Tuesday consists of two-day workshops in the Maldives focusing on policymaking and strategic leadership, covering two of the five modules included in the programme.

Participants will complete a portion of their training in United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of the programme, during which they will be visiting selected government agencies to gain valuable insights into the reform and modernization efforts undertaken by UAE authorities.

At the inauguration ceremony, VP Hussain thanked the President of UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other senior government officials for their assistance to the Maldives’ development agenda over the past decades.
