Kaashidhoo Imam arrested for suspected drug possession

Authorities have arrested the Imam of Kaafu atoll Kaashidhoo mosque on Sunday for suspected drug possession.

Maldives Police Service confirmed they arrested Ghanim Saleem, aged 37 years (Shabnamge, K. Kaashidhoo) in the case, and added the authority is now investigating the matter.

Police however, did not provide any further details regarding the case.

This marks the second drug-related arrest this week with authorities arresting a local man from Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Thinadhoo yesterday with 96 grams of drugs in possession.

Police arrested a local man named Ali Naseer, aged 38 years, in the case.
