Police College food poisoning: two students in ICU discharged

Maldives Police Service on Sunday confirmed two police college students who received treatment at ICU have been discharged.

The two students were among the five put to ICU owing to health severities after 32 students fell victim to food poisoning at the police college, in Addu City. One of these students, was transferred to the general ward some time on Saturday.

Police on Sunday confirmed the other student out of the two in ICU, was transferred to the general ward as well and added their condition was stable.

Although 32 police college students were taken to Addu City hospital for treatment not long after the incident, all the students except for the two in ICU have been already discharged.

An official of Addu Hospital confirmed all the students were initially treated at the hospital’s ER.

Meanwhile, police are seeking the reason for the incident with the hospital’s assistance.

The police college, developed with Indian government’s support, was officially opened on March 27, 2022.
