Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) states the suspect who was injured amid arrest is currently on ventilator support after his health deteriorated.
The suspect, a 38-year-old man, was injured as the Police attempted to arrest him under a court order on Monday.
He was taken to IGMH for treatment.
The hospital told Sun on Wednesday that the suspect was currently being treated on ventilator support at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). No further details were provided.
In an earlier comment, Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Ahmed Shifan the suspect’s family had shared their concerns with the authority regarding the officers’ conduct in making their arrest, and had requested Police Professional Standards Command, National Integrity Commission and Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) to review the incident.
