Maarandhoo Council deputy passed away post football match

The Deputy President of Haa Alifu atoll Maarandhoo island council Ahmed Rameez passed away suddenly on Saturday evening.

Maarandhoo council member Hussain Adam, while speaking with ‘Sun’ confirmed Rameez’s demise was sudden.

Rameez had been played a football match on Saturday afternoon between Maarandhoo and Haa Dhaalu atoll Nellaidhoo. He however, stopped playing after feeling extremely fatigued amid the game and spent the remainder of the game in bench.

Hussain further added Rameez had vomited severely post the match, and he was taken to the island’s health center after his conditions deteriorated. Rameez was next transferred to Dhidhdhoo of the same atoll for further medical treatment.

The council member added Rameez had passed away while he was treated at Dhidhdhoo hospital.

Rameez, represented opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) at the council. He was close to 40 years at the time of demise, and is survived by a wife and three children.
