Maldivian Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has met with Palestine’s Ambassador to the United Nations Riyad Mansour on Thursday.
It was the first meeting he held as part of his ongoing official visit to New York.
Revealing details of the meeting via a post on X, Zameer said he reaffirmed Maldives’ commitment to support Palestinians to attain their long overdue right to self-determination and admission as a full member of the UN.
He also said he reaffirmed that the Maldives would remain “steadfast in condemning Israel's genocidal aggression, calling for an immediate ceasefire, and bringing an end to the ongoing Genocide by Israel in Gaza”.

Notably, Male’ City Council, on Thursday, named a road in the Maldivian capital after Palestine to show that the Maldivian people stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine, as Israeli forces continue to bombard Gaza, killing over 37,700 people.
As part of his ongoing visit to New York, Zameer also met the Secretary-General of the UN António Guterres at the UN Headquarters on Thursday.
In an earlier post, announcing his arrival in New York, said he is also looking forward to meeting with permanent representatives of various regional groups at the UN and also meeting tour operators and travel advisors to promote the Maldives in New York.
