Founder of Selby, a prominent and long-running Maldivian business, Adam Shukri passed away on Saturday evening.
Shukri passed away at the age of 89. He was living in Malaysia at the time of his demise, and passed away amid treatment in hospital after his condition deteriorated. He resided in Singapore before migrating to Malaysia owing to health conditions.
Founded by Shukri, Selby has expanded to a multi-industry venture including ‘Selby Drive’ and ‘Selby Star’.
Interestingly, the first-ever lift ever installed in a Maldivian outlet was at a Selby-owned store. He also ran ‘Center Hotel’; a prominent local hotel that gained popularity in the 80s.
Many, including consumers and industry veterans, consider Shukri a trustworthy and reliable businessman. At the time of demise, Shukri is survived by six children.
