State Electric Company (STELCO) on Tuesday, announced the appointment of Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla's daughter, Mariyam Sajidha to the company's board.
According to the state utility provider, Sajidha was appointed for the board on Monday, last week. She was appointed as a non-executive director.
Sajidha holds a Bachelors in Accounts from Hertfordshire, UK and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Coventry University, UK.
While the Speaker's daughter has been appointed as a director of STELCO's board, his son, Ibrahim Faisal is the incumbent Minister of Tourism.
Abdul Raheem, the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) chairperson, was the Special Advisor the incumbent President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu prior to his parliamentary election bid.
A close ally of the president, Abdul Raheem was at the front line of Dr. Muizzu's campaign efforts for his presidential election as well.
