According to Maldives Police Service, the employee – a Bangladeshi national – had kayaked to a resort in Gaafu Alifu Atoll this morning and is in good health.

Police, in a message to the media on Monday, said the man was reported missing at approximately 15:30pm yesterday.

In a post on X, they also shared a picture of the kayak, on which the man ventured off to the sea, when he went missing.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) identifed the man as a 32-year-old Bangladeshi national. He was spotted in the waters off GA. Residence Maldives Resort by the resort's employees at around 09:25 am.

As Maldives experiences severe weather conditions at present, authorities have urged the public to exercise caution, as necessary, especially seafarers. Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has forecast heavy rains, strong winds and sea swells amid the ongoing wet season.
