Foreigner taking a swim at Raffles goes missing

A foreigner who went for swimming at Raffles Maldives Meradhoo has gone missing on Sunday.

Maldives Police Service shared with local media, they received report of a foreigner gone missing at the property around 15:30hrs. The authority added efforts are now underway to search and rescue the foreigner.

Police further confirmed the foreigner is a Bangladeshi national employed as a crew member of one of the resort's vessels.

Incidents in sea have gone up in the past few days amid worsening weather conditions.

Meanwhile, Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office) has warned the public, especially seafarers, to take precautionary measures ahead of trips. The weather authority has forecast heavy rain, strong winds and sea swells during the now ongoing wet season.

Police has also requested public support in finding and rescuing the foreigner.
