As per the Ministry, the lecture was focused on the history and style of chairs used in the past from an academic point of view. The lecture also shed light on architecture and carpentry techniques used in the Maldives during early times, from a technical perspective.

Saturday night’s lecture is one of the many events planned to commemorate International Museum Day. The National Museum has brought changes to its opening hours as part of these activities, and as such, will be open from 10:15am to 6:00pm from Sunday, May 19th to Thursday, May 23rd. In addition to this, the National Museum will be conducting interactive activities at the premises during this period.

This year’s theme for International Museum Day is “Museums for Education and Research”; underscoring the crucial role of cultural institutions in providing a holistic educational experience.
