Muni Foundation with Fushifaru Maldives announces their anti-plastic pollution initiative "Plastic Aa Nulaa" has been scheduled for April 29th, 2024 at the Central Park, Hulhumale'.
The environmental awareness event is scheduled to begin at 16:30hrs on the event day.
The event aims to bring together individuals, communities, and organizations to work together towards eliminating single-use plastic.
Plastic Aa Nulaa, which translates to "Without Plastic" or "No to Plastic" in Dhivehi, is a movement towards "a cleaner, greener future."
This initiative comes through the support of several other entities including government bodies and corporate sponsors, its sponsors added.
Fushifaru Maldives, one of the organizers in the event is a renowned name in environmental conservation and protection, and has previously conducted similar initiatives ranging from coral propagation, elimination of single-use plastic bags, tree planting initiatives, and promoting sustainable cooking practices at the resort.
Due to its commitment and dedication towards environmental preservation, Fushifaru Maldives has been recognized and commended for its efforts to reduce carbon footprint, preserve marine life and support the local community.
The other partner of the event, Muni Foundation, is a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to environmental conservation.
The partners are joined in the effort by Ooredoo Maldives, that has recently stepped in as the event's Gold Sponsor.
Additionally, La Linker and Transmaldivian Airways (TMA) have joined the event as bronze sponsors, demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.
Fushifaru Maldives thanked Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Parley who partnered as the event's Venue Sponsors, and IslandChief as the set-up sponsor.
The organizers promise a wide range of activities at the event, all designed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of single-use plastics and encourage the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives.

Additionally, the Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam is expected to join the event as one of the VIP guests.
The event also serves a dual purpose of facilitating community action through a beach cleanup during the morning of the event day.
