ACC launches Dhivehi speech-to-text app

In a bid to expedite its services, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a Dhivehi language-based speech-to-text application.

According to the commission, the new app, "Kaathibu" was officially launched on April 18th, 2024 at a special ceremony by the Retired Superintendent of Investigation of ACC, Abdul Azeez Moosa.

The commission said the new app will greatly reduce the time required by investigators in typing out their reports, statements and other case-related documents in Dhivehi; thereby, reducing the overall time taken during investigations.

ACC said the new app will be used in multi-faceted manner, by utilizing it to write the meeting minutes and other administrative tasks as well.

Through the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), this application has the capability of typing out spoken words in Dhivehi in real-time.

Prior to official deployment, ACC conducted a familiriazation program among its staff in the past four months as well.

The speech-to-text AI-based application is one of the many efforts undertaken by ACC towards digitalizing and automating its operations.

The application's developer, Cinetex Private Limited said they would add new features including summarization to the app soon.
