Maldives featured on popular global map for bunkering service

Maldives have been featured on a popular global map for bunkering service, Vitol Bunkers.

Bunkering service pertains to supplying fuel to ships.

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, in a post on X, announced Maldives’ inclusion on a popular global map for bunkering service, Vitol Bunkers.

He also shared screenshots from the website along with the announcement.

 

State Trading Organization (STO) signed a partnership agreement with Swiss-based Dutch company Vitol for the International Bunkering Project in Ihavandhippolhu last month.

The international bunkering facility that will be developed under this project will allow ships to dock in the Maldives to refuel.

STO’s Managing Director Shimad Ibrahim has expressed confidence that the project will bring lots of economic benefits to the nation. In addition to this, the project is poised to increase the foreign curreny exchangeability, and reserve. It will also create new jobs.
