ACC probes eight Majlis elections-related complaints

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has opened investigations into eight complaints linked to the upcoming parliamentary elections.

ACC’s spokesperson Hassan Manik told Sun on Saturday that the commission received 10 complaints regarding the elections. The commission is investigating eight of the complaints but rejected the other two.

According to Hassan, the two complaints were rejected either because it wasn’t within the commission’s mandate or due to lack of sufficient evidence.

“I am unable to go into specifics, but the complaints were generally regarding misuse of state resources for campaigns or making false pledges,” he said.

According to Hassan, the corruption commission will disclose details regarding the investigations next week.

The parliamentary elections is scheduled for April 21. Total 386 candidates are contesting for 93 parliamentary seats in this year’s elections.
