HDC opens bid window for Thilafushi land sale

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Wednesday, announced that the first state of land sale from Thilafushi Phase 2 is now open for bidding.

Phase 2 of Thilafushi, Zone A Area B of the island, is being sold to interested proponents for industrial purposes with the revision to plot areas.

While the bidding is now open via HDC's website/portal, the corporation said a total of 108 plots are up for sale.

This includes 64 plots spanning between 2,500 to 4,999 square feet and 42 plots ranging between 5,000 to 9,999 feet. Additional to this, HDC announced sale of two large-scale plots ranging between 10,000 to 14,999 square feet.

Land reclamation of Thilafushi Phase 2 commenced in September last year. HDC confirmed on February 12th, the reclamation of 120 hectares of land under the project.

HDC launched the land reclamation and shore protection in association with China Harbor Engineering Company Limited.

In future, HDC is preparing to shift the international port to Thilafushi, subsequently transferring logistical operations including cargo clearance and warehousing to the industrial island as well.

Additionally, the corporation anticipates easier logistical operations once Thilamale' Bridge connects Male' City with the island.
