STO controls lime price in Maldives market

State Trading Organization (STO) has imported lime and released it to the Maldivian market in a bid to cut prices ahead of Ramadan.

STO said that with a control over lime prices, it will now be sold at;

• 1 Kg - MVR 50
• 23 Kg - MVR 1,175

The largest state-owned enterprise (SOE) added it will be selling lime at the lowered rate from STO People's Choice (retail) outlet, STO Wholesale Center, and STO Industrial Village.

While STO has brought prices of lime down, it earlier brought down onion prices to avoid unreasonable price hike during Ramadan.

According to the corporation, onion will be sold at;

• 1 Kg - MVR 17
• 1 Sack - MVR 320

Prices of the most high-demand commodities generally surge during Ramadan.
