Woman injured in gas explosion at Male’ home

A woman was injured in an incident prompted by a gas leak in a home in Male’ City on Friday.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) identified the person injured in a gas explosion on the sixth floor of M. Blue Light as a Maldivian woman who resided in the house.

As per the authority, 10 percent of the woman’s body had been burned in the incident.

The woman is presently being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, MNDF added.

The glass of a door in the home shattered in the explosion.

MNDF said the incident was reported to the authority at approximately 2:20pm Friday afternoon.

They said the explosion was a result of turning on the stove while the nut on the pipe of the gas cylinder had been loose.
