Former president Mohamed Nasheed has been appointed the secretary general of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF).
Nasheed, in a post on X following his appointment, expressed that he was looking forward to working with incoming president of CVF, Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Mottley.
He also expressed gratitude for his appointment and the faith placed in him.

Nasheed, when he served as the parliament speaker, also served as CVF’s Thematic Ambassador for Ambition.
Maldives is a member of CVF, which first met in the Maldives in 2009. It is an international partnership of countries highly vulnerable to a warming planet. Member countries of CVF are committed to ambitious climate action, striving, among others, to achieve maximal resilience and to meet 100% domestic renewable energy production as rapidly as possible.
