One injured in Hulhumale’ Central Park accident dies

One of four people injured in an accident near the Central Park in Hulhumale’ last week has died in a hospital in Male’.

The accident took place around 07:42 pm on November 20, when a speeding car veered out of control and crashed into three motorbikes.

Four people – two men and two women - on two of the motorbikes sustained injuries in the accident, and were taken to the hospital.

One of the injured – a 59-year-old Maldivian man, died while under treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the ADK Hospital in Male’.

The hospital confirmed he was pronounced dead at 02:06 am Tuesday.

Eye witnesses reported that the accident took place after a speeding car veered out of control and crashed into nearby motorbikes.

A video taken in the immediate aftermath of the accident showed the injured being transferred to ambulances on stretchers.

The police arrested the driver of the car, and are investigating the accident.
