FM Shahid presents exequatur to Honorary Consul of Palestine

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, on Thursday, has presented exequatur for the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Palestine in Maldives Ragheb Ahmed Khalaf.

He was welcomed to the Maldives and presented the exequatur during a meeting at the Foreign Ministry on Thursday, by Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid.

Minister Shahid also congratulated Khalaf on his appointment and reiterated the Government and the people of Maldives' strong commitment to the Palestinian cause.

Maldives and Palestine maintain longstanding close relations.

The relations peaked during former president Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom’s administration during which economic cooperations were carried out.

Maldives is also one of the countries that have been advocating for Palestine and its people amid the Israeli war on the nation that has seen the deaths of over 5,000 Palestinians and injured over 15,000.
