1.4 million tourist arrivals so far this year

Statistics show that Maldives has seen 1.4 million tourist arrivals so far this year.

As per the statistics publicized by Tourism Ministry, the arrivals of 1.4 million tourist arrivals so far this year amounts to a 13.5 percent increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year.

The highest number of tourist arrivals has been recorded from Russia with 165,751 arrivals. China and India and follow in second and third respectively with 158,366 and 157,350 arrivals.

Tourism Ministry estimates Maldives will see the arrival of 1.5 million tourists by the end of October and the arrival of 1.8 million tourists by the end of this year.

At present, the island nation sees 4,973 tourist arrivals daily on average.

According to Tourism Ministry, there are 62,879 beds in operation at the moment, registered to 1,267 tourist establishments. Out of this, 68 percent of the beds are registered to resorts.
