Applications reopened for HRCM membership

Applications have been reopened for the post of a member of the Human Rights Commission (HRCM) by the President's Office. 

The President's Office initially opened applications for membership in the Commission on October 8th, after the Vice-President, Dr Ahmed Adhuham Abdulla resigned. 

Following the deadline for applications on October 16th, the President's Office reopened applications on Saturday, citing not enough candidates had applied for the post. 

In this regard, applications for HRCM membership will be accepted from 09:30am to 12:30pm on October 26th at the President's Office.

Application forms can be downloaded from the President's Office's website.

The commission currently consists of President Mariyam Muna, Member Moomina Waheed, Member Aminath Shifaath Abdul Razzaq and Member Samaau Ahmed Najib.

Members Moomina and Shifaath were appointed to the commission on September 8, 2020. President Muna was appointed on November 30 of the same year. Member Samaau was appointed to the commission on October 3, 2021.

The term of office for a member of HRCM is five years. Members other than those who are removed from office will be eligible for an additional term of five years.
