Wang Yi hails success of 3rd Belt and Road Forum

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has lauded the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) as a significant milestone in the collaborative effort to develop the Belt and Road initiative. In a press conference, Wang declared the forum a "complete success," emphasizing that it has ushered in a new phase of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

The forum, attended by leaders and delegates from various nations, has seen the formation of vital consensus aimed at advancing the Belt and Road initiative. Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed his belief that this new stage of cooperation will bring about fresh opportunities for the global economy, ultimately benefiting the world at large.

Wang emphasized the profound vision of the forum, which centers on joint efforts to modernize the world. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has already served as a collaborative platform for mutual development, accelerating the modernization processes of many developing countries.

Notably, the third BRF has yielded a substantial 458 outcomes, surpassing the achievements of its predecessor. Over the last decade, the Belt and Road initiative has accomplished historic milestones, paving the way for cooperation, prosperity, and shared development.

Wang Yi highlighted that the BRI has emerged as one of the most widely embraced international public goods and the world's largest international cooperation platform. He reiterated that the Belt and Road is an open platform, welcoming the participation of countries worldwide at any time.

In addition, Wang extended an invitation for other nations to pursue connectivity initiatives and stressed the importance of avoiding the formation of exclusive groups, emphasizing China's readiness to align with all connectivity initiatives.

Wang also addressed concerns about the U.S.-initiated Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, dismissing claims that it is aimed at countering the Belt and Road. He viewed such narratives as an attempt to politicize economic matters, underlining the commitment to open, cooperative approaches in international development.

The third Belt and Road Forum has clearly marked a positive stride toward global cooperation, development, and mutual prosperity, and Wang Yi's assessment reinforces the significance of the initiative on the international stage.

In the forum commemorating the tenth anniversary of the extensive Belt and Road initiative, President Xi Jinping announced a substantial injection of more than $100 billion in fresh funding from Beijing into the project. This significant financial commitment underscores China's ongoing dedication to the development and expansion of the Belt and Road initiative.
